Baghdad – The Digital Transformation and E-Payment Council held a meeting with the Irrigation and Drainage Department at the Ministry of Water Resources to discuss ways to improve the performance of the agricultural sector in Iraq, especially in the field of collecting irrigation fees and improving water management through digital solutions.
During the meeting, the role of digital transformation in improving services provided to farmers was discussed, with reference to implementing an electronic platform for entering farmers’ data, which contributes to enhancing service efficiency and increasing the effectiveness of irrigation fee collection.
The efforts of the National Water Authority in launching 19 new electronic services through the “Awr” platform were also reviewed, aiming to reduce paperwork and facilitate access to government services. Despite the progress made, the need for a comprehensive plan from the Ministry of Water Resources to achieve full digital transformation in the agricultural sector was noted.
